Little Red Apple

A figure in a white hood and gown, seen in profile against a dark olive ground, holding a red apple in one hand. The white drapery carries most of the light; the rest falls into shadow. The apple is the only strong colour. I built the white cloth with thick, loaded strokes and a palette knife, keeping the edges soft where the form turns into the dark. The background stays thin and flat to hold the figure forward.
