Lana

A young woman set against a dark, near-black ground, her head turned over her shoulder to meet the viewer. The light falls on the left of the face and the auburn hair. The high lace collar is built up thickly in pale strokes. I kept the face smooth and tightly modelled, then loosened the handling in the hair and collar. The dark background is worked thin to push the figure forward and hold the focus on the eyes.
