One Cherry

A single cherry, stem up, sitting low on a pale grey-blue ground. The fruit is deep red with two sharp highlights and a soft violet shadow beneath it. The background is loose and unfussy, kept light to push the cherry forward. I worked the cherry up in layers to get the depth of red and the gloss of the skin. The highlights are placed deliberately and left alone. The stem is done in a few quick strokes.
