Lemons Study

Lemons in a cloth sack on a dark ledge, with two more resting at the front. The yellows are lit hard against a near-black ground, the green leaves breaking up the mass. The light falls from the upper left. I worked the fruit with thick, loaded strokes to catch the texture of the rind, then kept the sack and background loose and low in tone. The aim was a strong contrast and a stable, simple arrangement.
