Two Cherries

Two cherries against a flat blue ground, joined at the stems. The fruit sits low and slightly right of centre, with a soft cast shadow beneath. Deep reds run to near black in the shadows, with sharp white highlights on the skin. I worked the cherries up in layers to get the wet sheen and the turn of the form. The background is kept plain and cool to hold the red forward. The stems are painted thin and pale against the dark.
