Naartjies Study

A footed glass dish holds a cluster of clementines, with one more set on the table in front. The background is near black, the surface a warm reddish brown. Light comes from the left and catches the fruit and the glass stem. I worked the oranges with thick paint and let the highlights sit proud of the surface. The glass and its reflections were built up slowly, lighter strokes over the dark base. The shadows are kept simple.
