Hungry Horse

An animal skull seen from the front, set against a deep red-to-purple ground that darkens to near black on the right. The bone runs the full height of the canvas, lit from the left so one side glows pale while the other falls into shadow. I built the skull up in thick paint, the surface worked and ridged to catch the light. The background stays thin and even, so the worked bone reads against the flat ground.
