Lonely Goldfish

A single goldfish set against a flat black ground, turned toward the viewer with its fins spread. The body runs from deep red at the head to pale orange and white at the tail. The composition is off-centre, with the fish surrounded by empty space. I built the fish up in thin layers, keeping the edges of the fins soft where they catch the light. The black is worked flat so nothing competes with the form.
